Black Lives Matter

I’m popping into your inbox today to make a statement on the current wave of protests for social justice, and to support you and the community at this time.

First I want to be absolutely clear that I am in support of this movement, and of Black Lives Matter.  I have been for several years, and continue to be ardently in my own process of unwinding layers of internal racism, acknowledging my white privilege, and taking actions to support justice and equality for people of color. This is a lifelong process, and as involved as I have been, there is still much work which I am humbly embracing.

We each have our own path, and our own role to play in the revolution that is currently taking place.  The Urban Goddess community is comprised of women of all race, age, and sexual orientation.

If you are a woman of color in this community, and you are struggling right now, I want you to know that my heart goes out to you, and that this community supports you.  I encourage you to do extraordinary levels of self care right now. I invite you to a complimentary 30 min phone session with me, if you are feeling like you just want to be heard, and to have space that supports you in doing what you need to do right now to care for your own beautiful body and soul.  Conversations on racial injustice is not my lane to lead in, but tender self care and support for you individually is, and I'm happy to offer this. To take me up on this, hit reply on this email, and I will send you a calendar link.

If you are not a woman of color and you are feeling you want to be more actively participating, and are not sure what steps to take to support the movement, I find this list to be very helpful.  Although this list was started in 2017, it is constantly updated and added to in order to keep it current with the steps that are needed at this moment.

These are both turbulent times, and very exciting and uplifting times.  So much has already been accomplished in less than 10 days of protests worldwide.  I believe this is the time we have all been preparing for. The time for the fierce and loving face of the Goddess herself to work through us as agents of change to dismantle the abusive and violent patriarchal systems of oppression, in order to birth a more just, equitable, and peaceful world that serves all.  This is a time for the shadows of the past to emerge and be acknowledged, and atoned for.

This is deep Kali death and transmutation time.

I was at a demonstration over the weekend where a man who has been a community leader and activist since the civil rights movement of the 60’s spoke to the crowd.  He acknowledged that the protests that have been taking place over the last week outnumber anything that happened at that time.  A big part of what has made this movement so impactful is that people of all races are coming together in support of black lives.  I get chills when I feel into the possibility that we are collectively reaching a moment when we realize that none of us are free, unless all of us are free.

We are in this together.  We must be in this together.  This movement is absolutely about black lives, and taking responsibility for the systemic oppression that has been pervasive since the founding of this country.  This movement also is about police brutality, use of force, and about shifting towards more holistic models of community care.  It’s about the oppression of Indigenous people worldwide, and the raping of Mother Earth for profit and gain.  The oppressive white colonial structures and systems will not be sustained in the new paradigm which is being birthed.

Can you be an embodiment of the new paradigm right now, and lead in your life from this space?

It is time for sacred activism & it is time for us to be the change we want to see.

Part of that change is being deeply compassionate with your own process.  Being deeply compassionate with your own body, and spirit.  Notice where you have internalized the bully, and the oppressor, and choose to listen to the deeper voice of love today.  And take action from there.  This may sound odd at first, but can you feel into where you have raped, bullied, and neglected your own inner sacred feminine terrain for “profit and gain”?

I recommend taking some time today to do self care, to move your body, to drop into your heart, to sit in front of your altar, and pray.  Ground yourself.  Be gentle with yourself, and then choose a loving action you can take in your own small way to help us move forward.  This is so unique for each one of us.

When we are in loving, and non oppressive, non competitive relationship within our own self, from there we are able to radiate and be the emanation of the change we want to see.  We are then able to show up as love.  From here we are able to embody love; To embody compassionate action; To embody non violent communication.

It starts within first.

Go within,

And then take action.

I love you.

I am here for you.

Let me know what you need, Goddess.

with tender and fierce love,

Amanda
